likewise u can use "norton disk doctor" but it will find many partitions u have to choose which one to recover depending on file system or size
more over u can download Hiren`s BootCD v7.7 it have a very usefull utilities , it contains testdisk too - just download and burn it , enjoy
but before all of that u had to check if your hard disk have a Hardware failure or not using the manufacturer utility diagnostic tool.
