Chris Burke falsely claimed that my original post had nothing to do with J.
If the environment in which J lives is affected, then there is some
relationship to J.
Henry Rich's post explicity demonstrated this fact.
Chris does not appear to understand the spirit of altruism ... my post was not
for my personal benefit ... I already had resolved the issue ... I suspect at
least
an iota of the J community would have appreciated the head's up on IE7.
Chris also wrote (apparently chastising me):
"[My post] should not have been posted to our forums at all,
and certainly not to one of the core forums".
How many J forums are there?
Which ones are considered to be core forums? Why?
AFAIK, there are only THREE J forums:
general
programming
beta
I would guess general and programming to be core.
Beta is for beta J.
Hence the MOST APPROPRIATE forum for my head's up post was in fact J General.
What on earth is J chat?
How many forum members use J chat?
It seems to me that a J chat would be somewhat unnecessary since
the forums are effectively chats in and of themselves.
I prefer mailing lists to chat rooms 99.9... % of the time. What about you?
BTW, Chris, I have no disagreement about your policy ... I do think you over
reacted ...
further, I would be happy to have a friendly face to face chat with you and
Eric at some mutually
convenient time and location.
respectfully,
