Hopefully these are temporary issues until there is a new J release: j602, which will include JAL support: - the "not recommended" applies, except for now it is necessary to seed the Package Manager initially - the Linux is the same as Mac, and in the new version, you should not have to be dealing the archives directly, so it won't be an issue either - curl support was added specifically for Macs as it is pre-installed as opposed to wget
Now you can run Package Mananger from time to time to see if it identifies new installs. It is worthwhile to initially download everything.
