I agree.  While the DoJ is sometimes (!) concise to the point of seeming
terseness, I think I've generally found it and other J documents to say
clearly what needs to be said, once I understand them.  

Changing, as, for example, changing the word "rank" to something else
for certain uses, would create confusion in those who have learned the
language and risk confusing those coming later with less consistency.
I'm not against all change, but I've become /very/ conservative about
changes to the core of J.
