the xml file (separate operation to guarantee that),
you get xml tags and their immediate text in boxes.

This probably is not an advantage for your case
(searching in boxes is less efficient than searching
flat text), but ... I guess I'm agreeing with you that
cuts are the best way to handle simple xml tasks.

(For arbitrarily complex xml tasks you need arbitrarily
complex xml support -- fortunately, well designed
xml rarely forces you to go there.)
