> Surely one can search for <at> as easily as @. Surely; but the point is the spammers don't (yet).
> Address munging is inconvenient On the other hand, we can. It's dead easy to create a tool to replace <at> with @ in selected text. This would mitigate the inconvenience. Here's a quick script that'll modify your J installation to give you that tool: http://www.jsoftware.com/svn/DanBron/trunk/environment/gmane.ijs Load the script and restart J. Now you should see a new menu item and corresponding key combo under Tools>Selection: Fix gmane munging Ctrl+Shift+Q Now, copy an email from gmane, say this one: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.j.general/2826 paste it into a new J script, and highlight the portion you wish to unmunge. Now select Tools>Selection>Fix gmane munging or press Ctrl+Shift+Q. In the selected portion, <at> will be replaced with @ . > The solution to spam is filtering. Spam should be attacked on many fronts. The first front is stopping spammers from getting your address in the first place. Filtering is a later front; after they've already got your address. -Dan ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For information about J forums see http://www.jsoftware.com/forums.htm
