Paul Berry remembers attending a large group of people, when Ken was describing tolerant comparison; one of the audience said, "Do you mean to say that it's all right if X1 equals X2 and X2 equals X3 but X1 isn't equal to X3?" To which Ken immediately said "Every carpenter knows that" and continued his talk.
