On 64bit computer the size of J32 mapped files is still limited to 0,6...1 GB and when J is hitting the memory limits the errors are difficult to handle. The only way to continue is to restart J and try perhaps with a smaller mapped file.

With J64 I can use bigger files without any "out of memory" errors. However I need double RAM while 1 GB J32 integers is 2 GB J64 integers. My biggest mapped file so far is 1.7 GB and I am happy that with J64 I can do calculations easily and uninterrupted with my 4GB computer.

For my purposes this J calculation capability means superior tool for our applications and I am just now curiously figuring how far this could technically and economically go.

But j32 should still run on 64 bit machines, I think?
