Interesting timing. I was thinking last evening that I should send a note about my success at installing (on this iPod Touch) an SSH client (based on putty) and using it to have jconsole sessions on multiple servers. Access to .jhistory works quite well and overall I am pleased. I think updates to the app will make it even better.

I even managed to produce "Devon's favorite plot" and display it in Safari (this did require a bit of tinkering on the server...)

The main downside is that I'll need some stronger glasses to read the tiny font ( sigh )....

Sent from my iPod -- excuse terseness and typos.

We have no plans to port J to the iPhone or similar devices.

The way to go with these devices is a web server that provides J execution, state, and display with the device browser as the front end. This is not too difficult to do. The main complications come from trying to support multiple
users and issues such as security and resource consumption. Those
complications go away if you simply host your own J server that is dedicated
to your own use.

hi

Sometimes I have an idea and would love to test it out there and then.
But I am not near a desktop that I can use.

Has anyone looked into getting j on the iPhone? Or is there a website
that acts as a interactive console?

The next generation mobile phones are becoming advanced pieces of
equipment, google are making android which is a phone os, apple has
the iPhone os. No doubt there will be more great phone os's in the
future.

It would be nice to see j on these devices
