The difference from a simple tight loop is that
Netflix test throttles all the memory and begins
swapping. The CPU is actually low, but the processing
is tied up waiting for slow large volume disk IO.

Alex, you need to tell one important detail: for each
OS that you tested, at what step count did it start
to become really slow, and when did it stop due to error
(if you had patience to wait).

Vista    2GHz   3Gb   64bit   40 - 55
Linux VM 2GHz   1.5Gb 64bit   20 - ...
Mac OS X 2.4GHz 4Gb   32bit   60 - 80

I concur that Linux was the slowest of all and
Mac was the fastest.
