Yes, dyadic (e.) is a boolean function. It returns 1 (for true) and 0 (for
false) in comparing each item in the left argument for match with any item
in the right argument.

As others have indicated, it will be difficult to learn the meanings and
utility of verbs from studying vocabulary entries alone. More importantly,
it will be very difficult to investigate, modify, or extend a sizable J
script without real understanding of the ways in which J is distinctive.
Study of the language fundamentals will serve you well.
