Environment: got it on mac OS with the .DS_Store files

The scanner should never pick up hidden files regardless of the pattern used.
If you try to use it on a mac this would always fail due to the .DS_Store files.
This never ran into a unit test failure, because the test used fresh classpath
directories where those .DS_Store files just did not exist yet.
