I believe the issue is that the repos you're building from are older than when this new mechanism was introduced in mic and they do not provide the 'mic-bootstrap-x86-arm' package. Could you try using the '--runtime=native' option with mic. I am running mic 0.14 on Ubunut 12.10 and your ks file works for me if I use this option: sudo mic create loop lb.ks --pack-to=kernel.img.tar.gz -runtime=native
