Hi Mats, Miklos,
there's got to be a way to define how you want particular parts of
your hardware to be used at a given time without "purge one package
so
another can take over".
I found a way to disable modemmanager on Ubuntu 12.10 and successfully
run lthor without removing it's package.
Since modemmanager is a D-BUS service therefore we can move (or remove)
it's configuration file from
/usr/share/dbus-1/system-services/org.freedesktop.ModemManager.service.
After that the running instance of modemmanager should be stopped.
Finally reconnect the developer device in download mode and run lthor
again.
I've just described details about the process as option 2 at the wiki
article:

Best regards,
Leon

I had the same issue on Ubuntu 12.10. The solution is to disable
modemmanager and then to run lthor again. For details please have a
look at the Tizen wiki article:

design!!! if there is, maybe this "FAQ" could be updated.
