It's not terribly difficult, but I agree with you, without an example it's a bit 
confusing. So here you go: (If you're using a Bourne-style shell...)

$ export CVSROOT=:pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/cvs
$ cvs login

(Type 'cvs' when it asks you for a password)

$ cvs co mnogosearch

And that should download you a nice working copy. Any time you wish to update your 
working copy to the tree, go to the main directory of the working copy, and do:

$ cvs update -PAd
