Thanks, after I re-cofigured mnoGoSearch as follows:
--disable-syslog --with-oracle8i
and re-made everything, now I can see what the indexer is doing. Here's what it says:
indexer from mnogosearch-3.1.19/Oracle8 started with
'/usr/local/mnogosearch/etc/indexer.conf'
[1] Load stopword table 'stopword'
[1] Load server table 'server'
[1] h
[1] Server 'h'
[1] Allow by default
[1] Protocol not supported
[1] Done (4 seconds)
Looks like somehow it gets a crippled SERVER.URL from the database. In fact, we've got
'http://www.uwex.edu/ces/forage/' there. Besides, when there's proxy data in the table
(PROXY = 'www-proxy.auckland.ac.nz', PROXY-PORT = 8080) we get another error:
[1] Can't connect to host www-proxy.auckland.ac.nz:3128
Why does the indexer ignore the port we specify?
Again, it all happens only when we use the 'SERVER' table rather than indexer.conf.
Thanks,
Alex
