Are you linking against static.simile.mit.edu or SVN... That might make
a difference.
On static, bundle.js is shown to be 164K
http://static.simile.mit.edu/exhibit/api/
and if you click on it and have FireBug installed, FireBug shows that
its gzip version is only 34KB (look in the Net tab).
Could you try to use FireBug to see which parts are taking the longest?
