Hi Chris,I'll let the more knowledgeable on the list speak to your other questions, but I can give you my experience on one.
Volumetrics – can people let me know what type of data volumes have you used with Timeline – 100, 1k, 10k, 100k, more events?
I am using exhibit with the Timeline view in it (if you haven't looked at Exhibit yet, I recommend you take a look. If you like the filtering / highlight stuff for Timeline, you will really like Exhibit). That said, I am up to around 1000 events and the rendering time for the page is beginning to become noticeable. My JSON data set is being generated dynamically, so, in the future, I am planning on looking into the ability to load new data sets as the user begins to scroll towards the end of the currently loaded data set (ala Google maps). I'm a ways away from this however.
Finally, can a Search be put onto the mailing list to be able to find answers more quickly?
+1 to this request. I've spent much time perusing the archives where a search function could have cut that time down considerably.
