I had an eclipse 3.3 "europa" lying around and I tried with that.
It didn't work, but here is what went wrong:
* the projects need to be changed to use java 1.5 if your workspace doesn't;
* libmysql and libcommons-lang had an absolute path in the project
dependencies;
* and there is a configuration/ folder that needs to be packaged somewhere.
That last one borked the startup.

Do I get a screenshot for my pains ;) ?
