For what it¹s worth, You can also run Simile on the desktop using Adobe AIR. When this question last surfaced on the list, the current release was AIR Beta 1, which didn¹t support everything needed. A couple of weeks ago AIR Beta 2 was released, which supports everything necessary to run Simile as a desktop application (which I¹ve tested and confirmed). I plan on writing a how-to on this and will repost to the list when I¹ve got it written up. Pretty straightforward though since HTML/JavaScript is how you write an AIR application.
