Thanks for the comments, Yves!

That's surely possible.

This is the first Thunderbird extension I ever wrote and so I am still
learning Thunderbird's internals. I'll have to investigate how to keep
the indices in sync with Thunderbird's internal message stores.

It is indeed a gadget, intended to get people to dream wild. In fact,
you can write your own view. Note that the Visualize window has an
address bar at the top. That default URL is pointing to something like this

[on Windows]

    C:\Documents and Settings\[user id]\Application
Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\default\[some random
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

[on Mac]
    ~/Library/Thunderbird/Profiles/[random
string].default/extensions/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/content/visualize.html

You can modify that file or you can create something else. One idea is
to use Timeplot to plot some statistics on the messages.

I hear you...

It means when new messages come in they also show up in the list even if
they don't match the current filters. I'm using Seek to deal with
messages that I've flagged "Todo". I check "whole threads" to see the
full conversations. And I check "new messages" so that I can still see
the new messages (while dealing with todos) without resetting the
facets' selections.

Good point.

OK. I agree something can be improved in that thread view.

The non-match messages have grayed out subjects, but I guess that's not
sufficient. If you're familiar with extensions, you could play with this
yourself. Look in

    ... /[EMAIL PROTECTED]/skin/classic/styles/overlay.css

and find

    treechildren::-moz-tree-cell-text(kf-nonmatch) {
        color: #888888;
    }

That rule specifies how non-match messages' subjects are rendered. Match
messages are rendered normally.

I believe they are actually sorted (if you click on the "date" column)
by the root messages. But perhaps what you want is to sort by the latest
messages.

Glad you like it!
