Easy, just use symlinks :)

ln -s /usr/share/java/log4j-1.1.3.jar /usr/share/java/log4j.jar 

log4j 1.2 is out :

rm -f usr/share/java/log4j.jar 
ln -s /usr/share/java/log4j-1.2.jar /usr/share/java/log4j.jar 

Apps will use in CLASSPATH /usr/share/java/log4j.jar :)

For example exolab use this naming :

castor-0.9.3.9.jar
tyrex-0.9.7.0.jar
