Ha, they are going to have really big problems with the present
generation then!!!

I really wrote to suggest you look at Geneweb if you haven't already
done so. I have been following the progres of Genes with interest and
have also tried ftree which is a bit further advanced along the road
to usabilty than Genes. 

Geneweb uses a very different approach to anything else I have used
and utilises Netscape (or another gui browser but works best with NS)
to display the data. Designed as a web server it will also run
standalone. It doesn't (yet) have the reporting facilities of
something like Family Tree Maker but will import/export gedcom files,
has nowhere to record Mormon specific events. This doesn't bother me
as I have no interest in recording them.

It is easy to send family data to someone else as saving a decendant
tree for example produces an HTML file which can then be viewed in any
browser

It is multi-language capable (Afrikaans was added in the most recent
release) which is something you may want to consider one day.
