I could make the Voyager SSL module (which is, more or less,
just an encapsulation of SSLeay resp. OpenSSL (for V3)) a standalone
library, but to the best of my knowledge, SSL never caught on outside
of HTTP usage.

Personally, I'd like to have a SSLed ftp, but that lacks on the server
side.

For telnet, there's SSH, and AmTelnet-SSH works nicely </end plug :->
