Probably true; I'm more concerned that ftp requires
plaintext transfer of the password.
We have APOP for pop3 (and serious mail readers :-),
MD5-Hash for SMB and SSH for Telnet, so ftp is more
or less the last protocol which requires passwords
to travel the wire unencrypted.
Frankly, I'd rather have a hash-verify-method of ftp
login than all the SSL overhead :)
