I have an Ariadne II card in my amiga, running Genesis (the version bundledwith the
card) and
workbench 3.5
I am currently unable to get my amiga to talk to the 4 windows 98 based pcs on the
network (which
are using the default dynamic setup for networking on win98), and they are unable to
see the amiga
either (e.g. pinging doesn't work either way, but does work between the windows based
machines)
The network is using a 5 port hub, and 10-base-T twisted pair cabling (I have tested
my cable with
one of the pcs and it works fine, so that isn't a problem)
Also when I attempt to ping on of the other machines from the amiga, packets get sent,
and the
corresponding light on the hub flashes, yet the packets don't seem to go anywhere
However, using samba monitoring tools, I can see global broadcast packets from other
machines on
the network.
Can anyone provide a simple step-by-step guide to setting up Genesis so that I can run
tcp/ip
applications and games (such as samba, which I have got working locally, but not over
a network,
or quake!) over the network to windows based machines.
Thanks in advance,
Richard
p.s. sorry if you recieve this twice. I sent it a first time from a different email
address and
have not seen it appear on the list, so assume that I can only post from the address I
subscribed to
