Subject: [genesis] Dead list? LAN Gateway problem if anyone is there!

Is anyone here?

Does anyone have time to step through how to set up Genesis as the
gateway for a LAN (just two machines - one Win95 PC, and the A1200
itself...)

Cheers!

List not dead, but genesis might be!
Afraid I`ve never used genesis in that way, I share an internet connection
from a win98 machine,as win98 has Internet connection sharing built-in.
But I hope this helps.
I am assuming you are already connected PC-Amiga via ethernet.

You need to set up routing,or IP forwarding, in Genesis,if that is possible.
as I don`t have a network card in mine at the moment, I can`t say for sure,
but it looks like you need to go to options/advanced tab, and tick gateway
to enable this.

You should give the win95 pc and your amiga network card static local IP
addresses
I suggest 192.168.0.1(amiga) and 192.168.0.2(pc)with a netmask of
255.255.255.0
then set the Gateway on the PC to 192.168.0.1

Then enter the DNS server addresses for your ISP in the network
properties/tcpip/DNS configuration tab on the pc.
This will point network DNS searches to pass through the gateway(amiga),as
all non local traffic should be automatically directed to the specified
gateway computer.
