As other people on the list already told you.
Using crossover-cable is not the best solution.
I know from my work, that some ethernetcards produce strange results
(not working, seems to be defect, etc) if they are used with a
crossover cable. I never get this problems with a ethernet hub.
I prefer to use a ethernet hub.
