Hello Joern, You have a few choices about how to accomplish this.
Any custom tracks on your own system will remain there if the database cleaner scripts are adjusted to not remove them. A variation of the regular UCSC "Share custom tracks" method could be adjusted to point to your own mirror: http://genome.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/help/hgTracksHelp.html#SHARE If you want to instead make them to be like a regular track (maybe in their own track group, no longer custom tracks), follow the instructions in this help page: http://genomewiki.ucsc.edu/index.php/Adding_New_Tracks_to_a_browser_installation Some other useful links: Main custom track help page for mirrors: http://genomewiki.ucsc.edu/index.php/Using_custom_track_database General mirror help: http://genomewiki.ucsc.edu/index.php/Category:Mirror_Site_FAQ Another option is to set up the Sessions feature on your mirror and share that among users. This is non-trivial to set up (requires wiki and other manipulations).
