Hello,

The files in http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg18/chromosomes/ 
are per-chromosome in fasta, gzip format. This version of the genomic 
sequence is unaltered and taken directly from the data source.

The file chromFa.zip in 
http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg18/bigZips is also 
per-chromosome and in fasta format (once gunzip is run to unpack the 
data). This version of the genomic sequence has been repeat masked as 
described in the README file in the directory.
