Hello, The files in http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg18/chromosomes/ are per-chromosome in fasta, gzip format. This version of the genomic sequence is unaltered and taken directly from the data source.
The file chromFa.zip in http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg18/bigZips is also per-chromosome and in fasta format (once gunzip is run to unpack the data). This version of the genomic sequence has been repeat masked as described in the README file in the directory. Thanks, Jennifer Jackson UCSC Genome Bioinformatics Group Wayne wrote: > Dear colleague, > > I downloaded human genome sequence data from the following link in your > website: http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg18/chromosomes/ > then, I found another version in the following link: > http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg18/bigZips/chromFa.zip<http://hgdownload.cse.ucsc.edu/goldenPath/hg18/bigZips/chromFa.zip> > > Could you please tell me the difference between these two version of > sequeces? > > Regards > > Wayne > _______________________________________________ > Genome maillist - [email protected] > https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome > _______________________________________________ Genome maillist - [email protected] https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome
