Good Morning Maxim: Are you working as the user 'root' ? How do you write into the root directory ?
Please capture all the output from the make libs: $ make libs > libs.log 2>&1 And send that information to my email address, not to the genome list. For your future reference, the genome-mirror email list is more appropriate for source tree build problem questions. --Hiram ----- Original Message ----- From: "Maxim" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, October 1, 2010 7:47:02 AM GMT -08:00 US/Canada Pacific Subject: [Genome] Source tree compilation behavior Hi, I recently tried to compile the Kent source tree on a new machine (I was successful on a couple of other machines in the past). I tested different Linux distributions (Ubuntu, SUSE, CentOS) and followed the instructions coming with the jksrc file. I do intend to install a local UCSC Browser, rather I need the tools coming with jksrc and in addition the jkweb.a lib in order to use it with the Bio::Bigfile Perl interface. The outcome of all my trials is that the install of the libs works smooth (no errors), but the jkweb.a is not found were I actually intended it to be (kent/src/lib/x86_64) but rather in my root directory (/) no matter what setting I did to the path environment before I start compiling. Can someone explain what this strange behavior might be due to?
