Hello,

writing an article [1] that stresses the advantages of publicly available
annotation data, especially wiki-style approaches, we agree with one of the
reviewers, that there is a need to have categories for wiki track entries.
Having categories, wiki entries could be marked e. g. as regulation related
(TFBS data), as gene related (TSS, ...), or as expression data. Because the
list of necessary categories probably will increase in future, maybe even the
categories should be open for community changes.

  * So, what I would like to propose is to add a category field to the wiki
track. Then, researches could manage the wiki entries, even if their number
heavily increases.

  * Additionally, we think, a possibility to extend the list of categories
should be given to the community.

We appreciate the availability of wiki tracks in the field of open access
research very much, and I love the usability of the UCSC genome browser, so I
would be glad to contribute a small piece.

I hope, that you can take account of our proposals,

Thank you and a Happy new year,

Stephan Struckmann
