Hello, I am emailing to let you know that the Saccharomyces Genome Database (SGD) has just released a whole genome sequence update for the Saccharomyces cerevisiae reference sequence. We anticipate that this release will serve as a stable reference for the foreseeable future and hope that updates to this sequence will be exceedingly rare.
Because UCSC is such a popular and useful resource, we would very much encourage you to update your S. cerevisiae sequence accordingly. The new sequences and annotation are available on our download site: http://downloads.yeastgenome.org/genome_release/r64/ All 16 S. cerevisiae chromosomes are changed as part of this update, but the mitochondrial genome sequence remains the same. As a consequence of these changes, 252 individual annotated features are altered (please see below). No features were added or deleted. This summary is relative to the last version at SGD (01-05-2010); there would be a few additional changes relative to the latest version currently available at UCSC (sacCer2, June 2008). We would be happy to assist you in this process in any way. Please don't hesitate to ask if you need any more information or data. If I should be talking to someone else in your group about this update, please let me know. Regards, -Dianna The vast majority of annotated features remain unchanged at the nucleotide level. The following is a list of the changed features, broken down by feature type (#changed/#total feature type). 13/337 ARSes 1/383 long terminal repeat 1/50 retrotransposon 2/89 transposable element genes (and corresponding exons and/or introns) 5/32 telomeres (changes in: 1 X element combinatorial repeat, 2 X element core sequences, and 2 Y' elements) 2/15 ncRNAs (and corresponding noncoding exons) 2/299 tRNAs (and corresponding noncoding exons) 1/24 5’ UTR introns 225/6607 protein coding ORFs (and corresponding exons and/or introns) -------------------------- 252/8093 changed features **************************************************************** Dianna Fisk, Ph.D., Database Curator Saccharomyces Genome Database Stanford University Medical Center Department of Genetics 1501 California Ave, Rm 2C412B Palo Alto, CA 94304-5577, USA phone: (650) 725-8956 email: [email protected] http://www.yeastgenome.org/index.html ***************************************************************** _______________________________________________ Genome maillist - [email protected] https://lists.soe.ucsc.edu/mailman/listinfo/genome
