Hi Elin,

GeneSorter needs to have something in the search field. If you don't 
enter anything, a default entry is added to the field.  I would 
recommend using the table browser 
(http://genome.ucsc.edu/cgi-bin/hgTables) if you just want a list of all 
genes on a chromosome.

Go to the table browser and select the clade, genome, and assembly of 
interest and select Groups: Genes and gene prediction tracks. Then 
select a set of genes (track/table), such as RefSeq.  Set the Region to 
"Position" and enter, say, chr20 to look at all the genes on that 
chromosome.  (The table browser should auto fill the coords for that 
chom, i.e. 'chr20:1-55952140'). The select Output format: all fields 
from selected table, and finally click "get output".
