Dear UCSC team Firstly - you guys are doing a great job. Your site is amazingly useful to me and my research group.
Secondly, you may be working on this already but if not, here's a suggestion. It would be useful to have a track where the most associated SNPs coming from GWAS projects on different common diseases are flagged. E.g. I was just looking at a SNP today, rs17270803, that we have interesting GWAS data in relation to skin disease. This is near a gene encoding a kinase that has been implicated in cancer and so I was wondering if that or nearby SNPs have come up in any cancer GWAS or GWAS for other diseases. This would be very useful data to have as a UCSC genome browser track. Anyway, keep up the great work and best wishes Irwin Irwin McLean FRSE FMedSci Professor of Human Genetics Dermatology and Genetic Medicine Division of Molecular Medicine University of Dundee Colleges of Life Sciences and Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing Medical Sciences Institute Dundee DD1 5EH Scotland UK Phone: +44-1382-381046 (secretary) Fax: +44-1382-388535 PA: Diane Purves, [email protected] Web: http://www.lifesci.dundee.ac.uk/groups/irwin_mclean/ ************************************************************ Please consider the environment.
