In 1996 and thereafter we have described the Recombination Enhancer that is a
cis-acting element which directs the use of HML in homothallic switching of
MATa but is repressed in MATalpha (thus leading to the preferential use of
HMR). It is approximately 250 bp in size and lies about 17 kb to the right of
HML. If you need more help in defining it, see Wu C, Weiss K, Yang C, Harris
MA, Tye BK, Newlon CS, Simpson RT, Haber JE. Genes Dev. 1998 Jun
1;12(11):1726-37.) RE binds Fkh1, Mcm1 and Swi4/6 in MATa cells but is
repressed in MATalpha by binding Matalpha2-Mcm1, a repressor of a-specific
genes.

I hope you will consider putting this landmark on your map
