Hello, Xiaozhe.

First, I would like to specifically point out that this assembly has not yet
been released to our public site. It is still in development and we cannot
guarantee the validity of the data.

In response to your first question, this assembly is a full genome. For
more specific information, you can see the 29 Mammals Project page at the
Broad Institute
(http://www.broadinstitute.org/scientific-community/science/projects/mammals
-models/29-mammals-project) and NCBI's Genome Project page
(http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genomes/leuks.cgi).

To answer your second question, the genome browser does not have the tools
for you to construct your own database. Also, we do not have a BLAST search
in the browser, though we do have a BLAT search. Since this is an older
assembly and wasn't completed, however, the BLAT search is not functional.
Additionally, because it isn't available in the NCBI FTP download
directories (ftp://ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/genbank/genomes/Eukaryotes/) it is
unlikely that it will be developed any further.

Please contact us again at [email protected] if you have any further
questions.

Subject: [Genome] Question on tree shrew genome

Dear Sir/Madam,
We are now conducting neuropeptide researches on tree shrews. To do
so, we need a neuropeptide precursor database, but we are not the specialist
in the genome field. We have two questions regarding the database
construction from the genome published on USUC website:
       1) Is June 2006 2X assembly of the Sorex araneus (shrew) genome a
full genome of just from mitochodrial?
       2) No matter it is a full genome or not, is it possible to construct
a full neuropeptide precursor database using BLAST search on this genome
listed in USUC website?
Your answer will be greatly important for our work. We look forward
to hearing from you soon.
Best regards,
                                                         Xiaozhe
