(I think it is, but since I'm far from native speaker myself, can't tell
for sure.  I think I the idea, though.)  I had the same consideration,
but it doesn't hurt, and makes things easier.

After bootstrapping and using prefix successfully on my OSX Panther box,
I'm convinced we did the right thing.  I'm very happy vim7 and mutt
1.5.13 run as a charm, and subversion (the dreaded beast) also happily
commits and updates on that oldie.  With one or two darwin 7 patches, it
works exactly the same way as on my Tiger machine.  I believe this is
all because of our "own" userland installation.
