After bootstrapping and using prefix successfully on my OSX Panther box, I'm convinced we did the right thing. I'm very happy vim7 and mutt 1.5.13 run as a charm, and subversion (the dreaded beast) also happily commits and updates on that oldie. With one or two darwin 7 patches, it works exactly the same way as on my Tiger machine.
