Just a thought which may very well have been had before (even though I
couldn't find it in the archives). Would it possible to have something
like ebuild-wise prefixes? During my short experience with
Gentoo/FreeBSD I ran into cases where some ebuilds wanted to install
things into the same place as samething else installed by the base
system. The one thing that comes to mind is the security man page,
which I belive was installed by FreeBSD base as well as Xorg.
I guess ebuild-wise prefixes is a mess best avoided, but could some
coarser grained mechanism to tune the prefix be used to avoid these
things? Like installing base (or system) into / and everything else
somewhere else, sort of what the *BSD packages and ports systems do?
