I'll try reemerging all autoconf, automake, and then libtool as you suggest.
Ok, I reemerged all versions of autoconf and autoconf-wrapper, then
all versions of automake and automake-wrapper, and then emerging
libtool worked.
From the emerge -e system list I assume that we just need to add an
explicit 'reemerge all automake versions' step before the 'emerge -e
system' step?
I'll continue the bootstrap and see if I hit anything else.
