Perhaps we can all agree that little-endian is better than big-endian, because certainly that's _my_ opinion, and here we are all of us using this little-endian hardware.
Our numerals are Arabic and Arabic writing is a right-to-left system. We who write left-to-right really should be writing our numbers with the least significant digits to the left, and then a column of figures would line up to the left like they ought to. It's too late, however, to change that; to change would mean more pain than it's worth.
