[gentoo-amd64] What's up with portage?

I've noticed over the last couple of days that I'm seeing several 
packages without ebuilds when doing a world update.  What's the beef?  
I've not seen anything on the Gentoo site or elsewhere that lets me know 
what's going on.  Is anyone else seeing this?
