have you tried running fdisk /dev/sda1 from your 32 bit pata install? Have you tried booting the livecd with no pata hard drives connected? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marcel Treis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

I have a Gentoo 32-bit running on the same machine, yet on another (ATA)

I need more information. Please send outuput of 'dmesg' from both.

I have attached the dmesg of two runs, both with 2005.1-r1, the first
with no additional parameters, the second with "acpi=off noapic nodetect
docache".
I hope that helps.

I have also downloaded the universal-2005-12-11, but it gives me a very
limited shell because it cant make a root partition. I could give you
better intel on that, if you folks think it could help.

Thanks!
