Yes, I follow the reasoning, and I should have spotted the word-size problem 
for myself, but why does the 32-bit JRE not work for the 32-bit OOo? I'll 
start the process again from the beginning, choosing only 32-bit Java, but 
what is a JRE for, if not to be a run-time environment?
