For your information, nvidia-drivers-1.0.8776 and xorg-server-1.0.2-r7 are compatible; -1.0.8776 and the xorg-server-1.1.1 series are not. Reason is changes in xorg-server, and if you try the combination -1.0.8776 and -1.1.1, you should not get anywhere at all: it flat out won't work.
