I wonder, if it possible to get almost all kde builded from splitted
packages and some pieces builded from CVS?

i.e. i want to have stable kde 3.4 and kopette build from cvs (using
kde-cvs ebuild) for example. is it possible?

It would be possible if there were uptodate, split KDE CVS ebuilds. The old
ones that are still lying around somewhere are 1) monolithic and 2) so out of
date, I'd expect many not to compile correctly.

Of course, such a setup would always be limited by the fact that kopete from
CVS HEAD might require kdelibs or other libs from CVS HEAD also. Some KDE
modules can work with older kdelibs (IIRC kdepim 3.4 officially works with
kdelibs 3.3, although some functionality is then unavailable), some can't.

With CVS i would like to compile KDE_3_4_BRANCH (for example), not HEAD

I think it's will be great if the package version will be depended on build time
i.e. i have kdenetworks-kopete-cvs-3.4 (or may be USE='cvs' kdenetworks-kopete-3.4?)
and then i build it (18 feb 2005) it builds as kdenetworks-kopete(-cvs)-3.4.r20050218
Or it's inpossible now with current portage? How difficult it would be to implement?

BTW, I hope the kde-3.2 in your subject line is a typo... (Frightened me for a
second :-)

kde-3.4 ))
