You might have had good reasons at the time, and you can argue them til you turn blue to anyone who will listen, but if your end consumers see it as a flaw it isn't going to change a thing. You're a service provider now. You need to provide everything your customers ask for, before they ask for it, or you'll get nailed to the nearest tree.
