Hi!

In several days after upgrade to 2.6.25-hardened-r4 my workstation hangs.
That was 100% hang - system was not accessible from network, no
information in logs or on console (usual X desktop was on monitor).

That time I was on vacation, so I noticed this and rebooted system several
days later. After that in about a day it hangs again.

I've booted previous kernel 2.6.24-hardened-r3 for now, and also noticed
newer 2.6.25-hardened-r7 was released in last weeks.

As I am sure you are aware, there is quite a lot of changes between "minor" kernel series; in this case 2.6.24 -> 2.6.25.

Is anybody experienced similar troubles with 2.6.25-hardened-r4?

I haven't, nor has anyone reported any such issues (via IRC, e-mail, ML or bugzilla) with any 2.6.25 release.

Is anybody aware about any stability fixes between 2.6.25-hardened-r4 and
2.6.25-hardened-r7 which may be related to this issue?

There are many fixes between 2.6.25-r4 and 2.6.25-r7. However, without knowing the specifics of your hardware and lockup issues it is impossible to guess if any of the fixes would relate to your specific setup/scenario.

P.S. I'll keep system running using 2.6.24-hardened-r3 for next few days.
If it will hangs anyway - then it will mean I've hardware issues and
latests kernels is ok.

If you have not developed a hardware issue and 2.6.25-r7 displays the same issue, I'd suggest filing a bug with all the relevant info available. Please provide a minimum of emerge --info, lspci output, and your kernel config.

Good luck.

My suggestion to you is check the changelog, you'll find it in $portagedir/sys-kernel/hardened-sources/version/changelog also http://cia.vc/ (I was interested in getting an RSS feed of updates.)

This is the same advice I was given upon requesting information regarding the hardened kernels in #gentoo-hardened on freenode
