If a fast filesystem is upmost, try ext2. It's numbers are impressive, it is the standard.
The only difference between it and ext3 is the journaling, which allows for a fast recovery if you have a power outage or something. The only downside of ext2 is that the disk checking after something like a power outage is slow.
