Hi Alden,

I've seen this happen in the past with the nvidia drivers and
it was often due to permission problems.

You could first try running VMD in text mode to make sure
it works

[EMAIL PROTECTED] vmd -dispdev none

If this works, strace on the VMD binary should give you a clue 
what might be going wrong,

[EMAIL PROTECTED] strace /usr/lib/vmd/vmd_LINUX
